What Sugar Shortage?

So as it turns out, everyone came out the winner at yesterday’s multi-sectoral meeting in Malacanan about the “sugar shortage.”

All groups agreed to the 150,000 mt importation of sugar as the President met with representatives from the planters, millers and business groups at the Palace.

Even the Senate President and the Vice-Governor of Negros Occidental were present. I know which groups they were representing. Definitely, Jeffrey Ferrer is the better politician between the two.

After the obligatory “raids” on warehouses, where the sugar actually is, the issue will die a natural death. The traders would’ve made the most money off the backs of ordinary Filipinos.

But as far as the sugar cartel members go, everyone is happy because their pockets will be a little heavier in time for the holiday season.

In the meantime, the brothers Rodriguez, Vic and Edwin, are still in power. Edwin even went on a media offensive on the AM radio talk shows. Between the two, it’s Edwin who’s the natural politician.

Tuloy ang ligaya mga kababayan.
