The Traitors of the Liberal Party

The opposition continues to accuse the Marcos’ of historical revisionism. But the mastodon elephant in the room is why is it that the Marcos family is on the cusp of fulfilling their goal of redemption and vindication? History as a judge, is often flawed because it is written by the victors. Yet here we are at the cusp of a looming election victory which is likely to set a record in the country’s political history as Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to become the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.

Marcos is not the best choice for President if one were to conduct an objective assessment of the candidates. That would be Ping Lacson who is the most qualified on paper and experience. But the Presidency is destiny as they say, and destiny did not smile on Lacson’s second Presidential run.

But the wonder is why would any Filipino, in his sane and rational mind, vote for Leni Robredo?

The Liberal Party, to which she belongs to, despite her being an “independent candidate” in this election cycle, is fraught with traitors. The party was founded by Manuel Roxas in 1946 as the Philippines was granted independence by America.

For whatever reason, Douglas MacArthur, the American Caesar in the Asia-Pacific, was not fond of Sergio Osmena. Roxas was the anointed and he did America’s bidding, giving it what it demanded; parity rights and a 99 year lease on all its military bases in the country. The 1935 Constitution had to be amended for this purpose and Roxas willingly acquiesced even if America resorted to blackmail with the threat that funding for the reconstruction of the destruction wrought by the war would not be given if the two demands were not met.

Elpidio Quirino bowed to American dictates but was still ousted by the Americans by way of Ramon Magsaysay. Quirino’s traitorous behavior was exemplified by being the Pedro Paterno of his time. He put down the nationalists led by Claro Recto. Up to today, rumors abound that Recto was poisoned by the CIA in Rome which was the real cause of his untimely death and not the heart attack which was the official line.

Ninoy Aquino was another traitor to the motherland. He exposed Marcos’ plan to retake Sabah from the newly-independent Malaysians. He also conspired with the Malaysians to fund the Muslim secessionist movement which later on became the MNLF.

Not content with this, he also revived the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas in 1968, installing Jose Maria Sison as its new Chairman. He tapped Bernabe Buscayno to organize the New People’s Army. He staged the Plaza Miranda bombing to destabilize the Marcos government during the midterm election of 1971. This, including the Frist Quarter Storm, were meant to bring down Marcos and install Aquino as the head of a junta.

Ninoy would not stop there. His assassination was not a Marcos plot but looks more to be an innate conspiracy between the CIA, his family and disgruntled military officials identified with Marcos. One theory propounded is Ninoy’s coronary bypass was failing and he needed a heart transplant but he could not get on the donor list unless he was an American citizen.

Ironically, Marcos’ health was also failing at that time with his needing a kidney transplant because of his being diagnosed with lupus. The plant was hatched with the premise that the Marcos regime could be brought down within one year of Aquino’s assassination. Marcos’ second kidney transplant was succesful and he made a recovery. This thwarted the opposition’s plan to oust him.

Cory continued what Ninoy began. She reneged on her power-sharing arrangement with the Laurel’s of UNIDO. She brought back the old political structure by way of the 1987 Constitution. She did not make good on her promised reforms. Every failure of her government was blamed on Marcos even if all plans and programs for implementation as formulated by the technocrats were thrown in the garbage can just because it was identified with Marcos.

The opposition accuses the Marcos’ of historical revisionism without bothering to look at their own. Look at how martial law has been painted to be such a dark period in the country’s history without the Liberals taking the blame for setting the stage for it. The insurgency and secessionist movement all began with Ninoy.

Think of how the subversives were able to win a class-action suit against the Marcos’ in a US court. Why would a group out to overthrow a duly-elected government be given compensation for their “pain and suffering.?” The award would have been uneforceable because the case was not filed in the country but our lawmakers bent over backwards and enacted the Human Rights Victims Claims Board for the compensation to be distributed funded by the ill-gotten wealth recoveries of the PCGG. Does not this smack of a huge racket that benefits only a few instead of the many considering the whole country was under martial law?

Then there’s the mainstreaming of the communist, leftist-militant groups or progressive national democrats or whatever name it is they actually decide on to call themselves. This was accomplished throught the party-list system and the pandering of our trapos for votes. Whenever convenient, they align themselves with whoever the popular candidate for President is. Erap in 1998. GMA in 2001. FPJ in 2004. Villar in 2010. Grace Poe in 2016. Is there really no concern for the members of the AFP and PNP who have died fighting these “insurgents” and the youth whom they corrupt to join their lost cause?

Is it not time that the Left, be de-platformed once and for all, considering they do not have the sincerity of coming to the negotiating table to in order to stop Filipinos killing Filipinos? In reality, the NPA is not a patriotic organization. They are just a band of brigands engaged in extortion. The unholy alliance between the Left and the Liberals in this election cycle is another valid reason not to vote for their candidates. They do not contribute to nation-building but only serve to stunt the economic growth and progress that comes with it because of their coddling of the entitled poor whom they continue to use as cannon fodder for their lost cause.

Next Monday is Election Day. Filipinos will go out and vote. There is no reason for Pinoys to vote for the traitors of the Liberal Party which has been rebraned to the Pinks by Leni Robredo and Bam Aquino. Even if their defeat is certain, we have to send a message that we are done and over with them. This is the only way we can finally move forward from the divisiveness they have caused since 1967. Fifty-five years is a long time for our country to be in a rut. It is about time we opened our eyes to the reality of their being traitors and make them accountable for the consequences of their actions.
