The Bias of Mareng Winnie

Who’s got solid plans for PH?

Of course it’s only MaDumb Leonor Antoinette who makes the grade in Mareng Winnie’s book. She would look stupid if she didn’t give her student at the UP School of Economics a passing mark. Not doing so would be doing harm to the reputation of the country’s premier public tertiary educational institution, particularly its school of economics, which is supposed to produce high-caliber economists.

Except of course for Maria Leonor Gerona Robredo.

Mareng Winnie’s assessment of the information available on the other Presidential candidates websites is true. Marcos doesn’t have a governance platform outlined. Isko’s is similar to Binay in 2016; gagawin ko sa buong bansa ang nagawa ko sa Maynila. Pacquiao’s is as empty as his candidacy. No form. No substance.

But you have to give it to her when it comes to Ping Lacson. She didn’t mince words when it came to slandering the Senator.

Next, we have Senator Lacson’s website, and it did have like half-a-page worth on what his program of government would be. Senator Lacson says it can be characterized in three words: It is concrete, implementable, and future-proof. Good sound bites. He described it as being “anchored” on bureaucratic and fiscal discipline, as well as leadership by example. Even better. And he said it will lead to good governance.

But what “it” is, is nowhere to be found. Although I was much struck by his “leadership by example” and I could not help the thought creeping into my mind: What examples of leadership has the senator given?

He was all but accused by Sen. Raul Roco and his committee of murder in the Kuratong Baleleng massacre. There was the civilian agent Mary Ong, aka “Rosebud,” who linked him to illegal drugs and kidnap-for-ransom activities, plus the EJKs (Bubby Dacer). He also evaded a warrant of arrest issued by government authorities. Further, he was mentioned by Amnesty International as being a torturer, when he was a sidekick to the infamous Col. Rolando Abadilla of the Marcos dictatorship. That’s the minus side.

On the plus side, he refused any of the pork barrel allocated to him, and he has blown the whistle on a lot of budget shenanigans during his senatorial stints. So you decide, Reader, on whether he can lead by example.

Ping Lacson has the most comprehensive governance platform among all the Presidential candidates to date. He has laid this out in the various fora he has guested on, be it local and international chambers of commerce, business groups and media kapihans left and right.

Mareng Winnie could’ve easily reached to the Senator’s campaign headquarters for material on his governance platform. Aside from the website, there are his official social media accounts where she can get information about what his plans and programs are should he be elected President.

Lacson is the only candidate with an integrated strategy for digitization of the bureaucracy as a means to minimize corruption, increase productivity and efficiency of delivery of basic government services and promote transparency and accountability.

In contrast, Robredo’s governance platform is limited to the following:

Who is best qualified for the Presidency?

Robredo continues with her penchant for motherhood statements. She has only been in public office since 2013.

Lacson has been in public service for more than fifty years. He has been a Senator since 2001. He has been the Senate’s budget hawk since he was first elected to the upper chamber and the staunchest advocate of budget reform and an end to the pork barrel system.

Objectively, it’s Sen. Ping Lacson who has the most solid plans for the country moving forward among the present crop of candidates for President because he has the most comprehensive governance platform with plans of action for implementation to boot. He is ready to hit the ground running on Day One should he be fortunate enough to win the Presidency.

But it’s not up to Mareng Winnie to judge that Robredo is best prepared to lead the country and write-off other candidates who are well-prepared for the challenges and rigors of the Presidency.

That’s up to the Filipino people when they go to the polls.

This is why Robredo will not win the Presidency. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Robredo comes off as both lutang and ampaw. It doesn’t help that her supporters continue to pass her off as qualified when she’s obviously not.

Aside from the Yellowidiot voting base, the rest of the Filipino people have realized that Leni Robredo has no leadership qualities whatsoever. They also know that she is lying through the skin of her teeth when it comes to her qualifications and experience which makes it all the worst for her candidacy. This is reflective of her consistently low trust and approval ratings for the last five years.
