Revolution and Deja Vu

Leni’s revolution: A second chance?

Inevitably, it would come to this. Leni Robredo as the second coming of Cory Aquino. Talk about a lack of imagination and creativity. The crescendo only builds up to this kind of climax? Pretty lame if you ask me.

John Arcilla’s Heneral Luna is now co-opted for Leni Robredo’s revolution against the establishment? C’mon. Robredo is as establishment as they come. She may not be part of the de buena familia social set in terms of wealth but she has been adopted into that circle for her, uhmm, “malleability;” which can probably be redefined now as her willingness to have a hand shoved so far up her behind, controlling her behavior and what comes out of her mouth.

There is no denying that Leni Robredo is a puppet. Yet now she is supposed to be the Heneral Luna to the Aguinaldo, Paterno, Buencamino and Mabini clique which sold out the Filipinos to the Americans, duly represented by Marcos, Arroyo, Duterte and Estrada or MADE.

Simply put, MADE is made up of, pun intended, of political personalities who have been wronged and been the subject of political vendetta by the Yellowidiots. There is no dearth of them but a plethora. The basic argument of Filipinos throughout the country is the fact that the Yellowidiot leaders never made good on their political promises. This is why in Panay, the provinces of Capiz and Antique will likely be won by Marcos. Even the nephew of Jaime Cardinal Sin is running under the Marcos banner.

Absent radical reforms and transformational leadership, the post-Marcosian era saw more than 80 percent of elected legislative offices dominated by self-dealing political dynasties. Meanwhile, lopsided economic policies enabled the 40 richest families to gobble up to 76 percent of the newly created wealth in recent history. This is an astonishing level of inequality and wealth concentration, which has made a mockery out of our democratic aspirations.
No wonder then that a 2020 Pew Research Center survey showed that almost half of Filipinos said “most elected officials do not care” about ordinary citizens, while an earlier Pew survey showed that only 15 percent of Filipinos are fully committed to liberal democratic politics.
Against this backdrop of widespread disaffection and despondency, the only way to save our democracy is to advocate for a genuine one. Leni’s historic candidacy represents arguably the second chance for the Filipino people to realize the true aspirations of the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution, itself the upshot of a century-old struggle dating back to the days of Rizal and Heneral Luna.

The Ilokanong-Iranian has gone absolutely bonkers, attributing the present problems of the country to those whom they are opposed to when they were in power the whole time from 1986 – 2016. Democracy is again threatened because of the impending election of Marcos as President?

Sorry Richard. Javad. Or whatever it is you actually call yourself. It is all over but the voting and the counting. Despondency is on the part of the opposition and not the administration. The Filipinos overwhelmingly approve of Duterte’s performance and they want continuity by way of their choosing Marcos and Duterte to be the next President and Vice-President.

Robredo and all of her ilk, including you, are consigned to the trash heap. It is not history which will judge you but the Filipino people and they already have.

Good riddance.
